Happy holidays- part 2

We tried to make this Christmas an exceptionally  happy, relaxing time  so no rushing, no huge preparations ( I have been cornered one evening and made to promise(!!!) that this will be a simple, happy.... meal without hips of food and all that hard work in the kitchen), not overeating  etc.
Also, we decided against Christmas crackers, hats and all the  other eco-unfriendly festive gadgets, making most of our decorations  ( recycled paper bulbs, popcorn and cranberry chains, recycled  fabric ornaments, gingerbread cookies) as well as Christmas gifts ( mostly handmade- painted, sewn, knitted etc,  by the children) and foraging for some nature provided classics  ( pine and holy branches with berries, ivy, pine cones and such)

Even managed to find a local nursery selling their own pot grown Christmas trees a very reasonable price
Our wholesome Christmas meal consisted of a locally reared and grown organic chicken with gravy and cranberry sauce, chipolatas,  plenty of veg ( roasted potatoes with rosemary, parsnips, brussels sprouts, carrots and pickles  ( everything locally sourced). Followed by a rich poppyseed and dried fruit cake with ice cream and cranberry sauce (again! :) )
